Stupid Little Upload Counter
Version 2.50
For QBBS/SBBS Software
What is Stupid Little Upload Counter?
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Have you ever wondered how some BBSs can get their users to upload?
Well, there's nothing more motivating than having a bulletin thanking
the top uploaders of a BBS. It makes top uploaders want to upload even
more, and it makes people who aren't on the list try to get on it.
Stupid Little Upload Counter is a small program that I wrote to
create an ANSI and ASCII top uploaders bulletin. The program makes two
lists: a Top Uploaders (Kilobytes) and a Top Uploaders (# of files).
How do I install Stupid Little Upload Counter?
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Installation is extremely easy. Put SLUC.EXE in any directory you want.
In the same directory, make a file called SLUC.CFG (a sample is provided).
The file should look like this:
Line 1: Name of your BBS
Line 2: Full pathname and filename of the ASCII bulletin
Line 3: Full pathname and filename of the ANSI bulletin
Line 4: Full pathname and filename of your USERS.BBS file
That's all there is to it! Just make sure in your BBS software that
users will see the bulletins SLUC creates (I make them my NEWS files, so
they are automatically displayed). Also, you need to run SLUC whenever
you need a new bulletin - I run it every time a user logs off. To run
SLUC, just change to whatever directory it is in, and type SLUC. Pretty
easy, eh?
Registration
""""""""""""
This is NOT a free version of SLUC. Registration will change the
Blinking "UNREGISTERED EVALUATION COPY" into your BBS name, and take
away the blinking.
To register, please send $5.00 and a self-addressed stamped disk mailer.
If you're not from Canada, and can't get Canadian stamps, just add a bit of
extra money to cover postage of your disk. Please specify 3.5" or 5.25"
disk, and write your BBS name (or whatever you want it to say on the
REGISTERED TO: line) clearly.
If you don't want to spend $5, then send $3, the mailer, and a cassete
tape that says, "Hello, my name is [name], and I live in [city, province,
country]. You're listening to The Two Hours of Insanity on CFRU 93.3 FM
in Guelph." Remember to include a note giving CFRU 93.3 FM permission to
use the tape on air.
Send all money, mailers, and tapes to:
